The Uniting Country SA Foster Care and Respite Service team recently held a Family Fun Day for foster families and children from across the region. The event was held at the Port Germein foreshore during the first week of the April school holidays with special appearances by CFS mascot Smokey the Bear and the Easter Bunny who gave Easter goodie bags to the children. The weather was perfect for a day at the beach with over 80 children, their carers and UCSA staff attending.
It was a wonderful venue with plenty to keep everyone entertained. The carers and children enjoyed the playground, a walk along the historic jetty, a ride on the iconic ‘crab train’ and being ‘cooled down’ by the local CFS truck.
We were treated to a delicious BBQ lunch that was kindly cooked for us by members of the Port Pirie Rotary Club. It was lovely to see all the children having so much fun and the carers taking a moment to relax and interact with other foster carers and UCSA staff.
Days like this are very important to UCSA’s Foster Care and Respite team; they allow our foster families and the children in their care to have a fun day out. We are incredibly grateful for all of our foster carers, their dedication and commitment.
