Options and Eligibility

Uniting Country Housing (UCH) provides housing support for:
To access UCH services, you must:
  • People at risk of homelessness
  • Older people seeking affordable options
  • People with disabilities
  • Families and individuals escaping domestic violence
  • People who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • Be a resident in South Australia (SA)
  • Have a household income within the income eligibility limit
  • Not own any assets or property
  • Be able to sustain a successful tenancy, with or without support.

Exceptions may apply in extenuating circumstances. You will also need to meet the South Australian Government's housing eligibility criteria relating to maximum levels of income and assets.

Housing Eligibility Criteria

We have over 200 dwellings in Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Whyalla, Port Lincoln, Coober Pedy, Crystal Brook, Moonta, Wallaroo, Wirrabara, Booleroo Centre, Gladstone, Bute, Clare, Ardrossan, Balaklava, Owen, Orroroo, Port Vincent and Laura.

Some of our homes are reserved for people with specific needs (eg Mental Health Housing, Transitional Housing Program and other supported housing programs) or who meet other criteria (such as being over 55 years old). You will need to meet the criteria for that location or be nominated by the organisation who provides or manages the support attached to these programs.

We also take particular care to match new tenants with neighbours in our unit groups.

Our new tenants are given a comprehensive Tenant Handbook which contains contact details for our Tenancy Officers, information about maintenance requests and all our policies and forms.

Our Tenancy Officers can also help tenants access a range of other services through Uniting Country SA.
