What is the the Microfinance program?

The Microfinance program provides individuals and families access to safe, fair and affordable credit for essential items and services.

You pay back exactly what you borrow.

The Good Shepherd No Interest Loans (NILs) are available for up to $2000 for essential goods and services including household items, care repairs & registration, medical & dental, technology, housing and education. 

Repayments are set up at an affordable amount over 24 months.

UCSA’s microfinance loans are available for up to $800 and cover expenses such as medical related and medication costs, sporting fees and equipment, and yard cleaning.

Am I eligible?

  • Have a health care card/pension card or
  • Single households earn less than $70,000 a year (gross) or 
  • Families/couples earn less than $100,000 a year (gross) with dependents or
  • Have experienced domestic violence in the past 10 years plus
  • Have the capacity to repay the loan

Microfinance loans up to $800 and can request top-up for further costs as drawn down.

Loans cannot be used for cash, debts or food.

Inquire about the loan at your local UCSA office. You will be given information about the document you need to bring your appointment.

How can I get a Microfinance loan?

The loan process takes place over three stages

  • Attend an interview to complete the loan process
  • Your loan will then be assessed and you will be notified of the outcome
  • Collect your items from the retailer
