2019 is starting to get into full swing with the opening of Uniting Country SA’s community operations in Port Pirie. During the past two weeks the Community Foodhub, Goods@Gertrude, the Parham Centre, and the Port Pirie Community Centre have opened their doors for the new year.
The Community Foodhub re-opened its doors on Monday the 8th of January. The Foodhub ensures people experiencing hardship have access to a selection of low cost groceries to help stretch their income that little bit further. The Community Foodhub is open Monday to Friday from 10:00am – 2:30pm. Closed all Public Holidays. Contact UCSA’s office if you would like more information about how to access the Foodhub.
Goods@Gertrude opened Tuesday the 15th and is sporting a new layout and a new checkout system with EFTPOS available this year to better serve our customers. We also have our summer stock on full display.
Goods@Gertrude sells a wide range of pre-loved items including clothing, toys, books, furniture, mattresses and electrical items. All stock comes from generous donations within the communities of Port Pirie, Mid North, Southern Flinders and the Yorke Peninsula. Located at 63-65 Gertrude Street, the store is now open for the new year Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 4:30pm.

The Parham Centre opened Monday the 14th ready to provide a workspace for people of all ages looking to do wood or metal work. The Parham Centre has two amazing workshops available for use on weekdays. It is the perfect place in Port Pirie to work on your next project. The ParhamCcentre also has a large commercial kitchen and conference spaces available. Come in and visit the Parham Centre at 3 Parham Street Port Pirie today.
Also opening on Monday the 14th was the Port Pirie Community Centre. The Port Pirie Community Centre is an open and shared space where all members of the public can meet, learn and share. Offering a wide range of services to the community, the Port Pirie Community Centre is a wonderful place to talk, share, and learn. Located at 28 Symonds Street, Port Pirie, the Community Centre is open every week, Tuesday – Thursday from 9:30am – 3:00pm and Friday from 9:30am – 2:00pm.
